HTC HD2, Windows Mobile with Snapdragon

HTC HD2 Front and Back

HTC HD2 Front and Back

We have been seeing a lot of international news about the HTC HD2 over the last few weeks but had heard nothing from HTC in South Africa. Luckily just before we lost hope, we were sent the news that South African’s will be able to get their hands on the Snapdragon powered Windows Mobile HTC; and you won’t actually have to wait that long.

Ok, more about the phone (that’s why you here right?). In my opinion this phone will have 3 selling points and all of them are actually very cool. The first is the huge 4.3 inch capacitive touch screen which is highly functional whilst delivering a sharper, clearer image with it’s high resolution capability.

The next feature of the phone is that it is running the really cool 1Ghz Snapdragon mobile processor from Qualcomm. This processor allows mobile phones to access so many capabilities that were limited in the past. This also means that the applications on the HTC HD2 will perform so much quicker and they will all give great response times which goes well with the touch screen.

The last feature that I think will finally throw HTC on the multimedia market is the 5 megapixel camera backed up by a LED flash. The flash is the important part as it is what has let down all the phone reviews we have done in the past. Let’s see how well the camera can perform when we hopefully get our hands on one in the future.

The phone also packs the latest features that we are starting to come to expect from a “smart phone”, well at least what I am coming to expect. It has access to an application market, social media ready, fast internet connection with wireless and my personal favourite of having the ability to share media you capture with the phone even via a social medium like Twitter or Facebook.

One of the funniest things I read though was the new HTC Windows-based version of their Twitter application known as HTC Peep; I am not to sure how happy the guys at Afrigator are going to be about this with their Gatorpeeps application.

The phone will be available in mid November. Pricing has not been announced as yet but we should hear something in the next week or so. Your initial thoughts?

    Thanks Seagyn

price is not bad, i was half expecting it to be over 10 grand

LEAF says it will be with SA Network Operators 1st/2nd week of December. Now while i know its not wise to buy something when its this new, and logic tells me i should be waiting for HTC to iron out the problems, i just cant resist getting one :-)

Yeah, sometimes it is better to wait for the 2nd version, but there are some things you just can’t resist.

    true.

there does seem to be a slight problem with some of the camera models.. where there is a pinkish hue on the pictures. hope it gets sorted out before getting sent to SA

other than that, it does seem, on paper, to be a kick ass fone
