HIV911 Logo
There is no doubt that HIV is one of the most prolific diseases ever. Yet the world, mostly Africa, is struggling to come to understand that the only cure is prevention at the moment. However we cannot ignore those who are already affected by it and it is great to see start ups like HIV911 coming up and trying to make a difference.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10
The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 is being hurled into the Android market which is currently gaining a whole lot of momentum. With HTC having launched quite a few android phones already, we could call them the Android leaders. However, it’s only right for the other manufacturers to come in and introduce new phones loaded with their take on the Android OS.
Sony Ericsson (SE) have totally chopped up the Android interface and come up with what they call the SE UX (user experience). They have self proclaimed the interface as “the most open, human and intuitive user experience yet”. We still have to see it for ourselves but by the sounds of it we are getting dam close to true AI (artificial intelligence) even if SE have not completely got it.
The Tokyo developers from Square Enix will be working on the cinematics for the third instalment of the Deus Ex series by Eidos Montreal.
Going back a couple of posts you’ll remember that there were talks of the first joint project between Square Enix and Eidos Montreal. Dues Ex 3 is that project.
The final two classes for BioWare and LucasArts’ up and comming MMORPG have been revealed, they are the Jedi Consular and the Sith Inquisitor.
No detail other than what the classes are called is known so far.
So to sum up all the classes the game will have:

A 15-year old boy from Buffalo Grove, Illinois phoned the 911 emergency service on Sunday, to find out whether his parents had to right to take away his Xbox 360 as punishment.
When Dragon Age: Origins was released, it was released with DLC straight off the bat. Players who bought brand new copies of this fantasy RPG were given free access to The Stone Prisoner ($15 otherwise). EA also jumped in with some DLC from day one, with the Warden’s Keep expansion for $7.

According to Activision’s internal estimates, Modern Warfare 2 has earned $550 million in the first five days of sales. $310 Million of that was earned during the first 24 hours of the game’s release and another $210 million was further made during 4 days after that. Modern Warfare 2 broke GTA 4’s 5 day sales record by $50 million.
Activision claims that Modern Warfare 2 has broken a ton of records for entertainment sales.

I figured it would only be a matter of time until someone Frankensteined a hack together for a dedicated server for Modern Warfare 2. Well it has happened, a group of hackers found a way to activate the dev console in Modern Warfare 2 on the PC.
“Thanks to AgentGOD and his great work bringing the developer console back into the PC version, a whole new wave of servers are possible with vast amounts of customisation. Things such as unlimited ammo, massive experience points (10000xp for a single kill), Field of View tweaks, speed and gravity adjustments and so much more,” reads the YouTube video’s description.”
The reason for creating such a thing was not to prove that dedicated servers are better than the p2p IWNet system, but rather to tweak some game settings and make for some interesting servers.
The hackers also claim that their servers are listed as “ranked” on IWNet.

Left 4 Dead in all its 8-bit glory
Remember back in the day playing your favourite game on your 8-bit NES? With the release of Left 4 Dead 2, don’t you just wish you could go back and play this game in 8-bit style? What, you do?
Well fear not, all your prayers have been answered. Budding game designer Eric Ruth has made a “de-make” of the original Left 4 dead game in full 8-bit NES awesomeness. Ruth revealed that he plans on releasing the full game for free on the PC in early January 2010. The game will support up to 2 player co-op as in the early NES days.
Valve apparently know about this project and finds it “hilarious”.

Square Enix recently bought over UK-based Eidos as part of an initiative to better tap into the global audience. This does not mean however that Eidos studios will be fading away. They’re currently working on new instalments such as Hitman, Tomb Raider and Thief and will join upcoming games such as Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest projects bearing the Square Enix signature.
At the Montreal Games Summit, Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada announced that Square is working with Eidos Montreal, part of the newly absorbed Eidos, on a new game. The new Eidos Montreal project “would be the first collaboration between Square Enix and Montreal,” Wada reportedly told summit attendees. “We would like to be able to create a new title that is made by the group as one.”

November 15, 2009 saw the close of the World Cyber Games annual event, with some major upsets in the WarCraft III scene (mostly for me).
WCG 2009 was hosted in Chengdu, China and saw gamers from all over the world come together and battle it out for the number one spot in their respected games.

If you are a Apple Mac user then you will definitely know the frustration of getting a few drivers for your hardware that most likely is created by Windows users. This is very true when it comes to Vodacom 3G. The software provided by Vodacom for their 3G E220 HSDPA modem is faulty and just provides headaches.
Luckily Charl Norman has done a bit of digging around and found an update to the Mac Software. Basically with the old software it would either not work all together or it would just spontaneously disconnect you from the net, highly irritating! It apparently works brilliantly, has a much better interface and is available for download right here!

You gotta hate those moments when you type out a very personal email and you actually send it to the wrong Sam or Bob. Especially when that Bob or Sam is the person you gossiping about and even worse when they are your boss or colleague that sits across from you. Hopefully a new feature on Google Labs will rectify this.
In the past, Google has introduced Gmail Labs additions like Mail Googles (to prevent those potential drunk-dial by e-mail moments) and “Undo Send” which let you cancel sent messages if you act fast enough. Gmail Labs has a feature for the user with lots of contacts with similar names, “Got the wrong Bob.”
Basically if you have a lot of contacts with the same name you might select the wrong Peter or Simon when sending the mail. What “Got the wrong Bob.” does is check to see the groups of people you send mail to and look for irregularities when adding people. So if you have a group of people that include Peter M in the mail group and you add Peter Z, it will then let you know that you could be sending to the wrong person.
You have to love GMail Labs.
