Facebook QR Codes
I was updating one of my Facebook Fan Pages earlier when I noticed a new link under the profile picture. It seems as if Facebook have starting enabling QR codes for both users and their statuses and pages. They are coming and going on my pages so I currently have no screenshot of the links or the actual code but it definitely is being implemented as we speak.
A QR Code in principle is a 2-dimensional bar code, you know those lines and numbers that you get on most of the products you would purchase at the shops. The difference is that instead of holding product information and price it holds a URL. This way magazines, websites, products and even companies can use a QR Code to allow easy access to pages about them (Fan Pages etc.). All you need is a camera phone with the ability to read bar codes such as a few Android and Symbian devices. This causes the browsers to launch and redirect you to the stored URL.
The link has no disappeared off our Facebook page and when we did try and use it the QR Code did not show.
