Mvix Ultio MX-800HD with built in bit torrent client

Well that was a mouthful…

Home entertainment is changing, DVD and Blu-ray players are not selling as frantically and the need to have a media center where you can store your hours of movies is on the up. Not only this but the ability to connect and interact with the device is also gaining quite a bit of traction.

We especially like the ability for other devices to access the media center like workstations and laptops. The Mvix Ultio MX-800HD seems to be the device that can do that and, as the name suggests, more.  The Ultio MX-800HD has three key features that really make it a powerful media player. The first is the ability to add a hard drive of any size up to 2 Terabytes giving you ample storage for all you media.

The next and most important feature is full 1080p high-definition playback. Yes that is a 1920×1080 resolution in all it’s glory which can be transmitted to your 46-inch LED monitor via the available HDMI port.

Now the coolest feature must be the built-in Bit Torrent client which allows you to download and share your movie collection. This means that the entire media player becomes a hub for watching, downloading and sharing your favorite content.

Space is the biggest issue for any media center with built in hard drives. If you do require more than 2 Terabytes of storage then you can plug in any external storage device into the two available USB ports giving you access to even more HDD space.

When it comes to playback the Ultio MX-800HD supports a large variety of video and audio codecs. Some of the video codecs it support are H.264, MKV, WMV9, MPEG 1/2/4, HD Divx , Xvid, FLV and RM/RMVB which is most of the important ones covered.

Networking the device is also made easy with a good old RJ45 network jack with a built in Samba Server. You also have the ability to add a wireless USB dongle to the mix to get full Wireless N connectivity and the need for a whole lot less cabling.

Now we are just waiting for Mvix SA to bring them into the country but for now you can stare at them on the Mvix USA website. You are going to pay around R2000 for it, but it will definitely be worth it.
