Are Twitter releasing their own “Tweet This” button?
We have heard some interesting news from a few sources about Twitter releasing the official “Tweet This” button. It is said to be the most comprehensive Tweet button with the ability to change its style including colour and size.
We are not sure when Twitter will release it to the public but we were able to get a sneak code snippet to try and see if it works and here it is.
As you can see on our website, we use the Tweetmeme button which is the company that will most likely be affected by the release of the official button. Tweetmeme is by far the largest distributor of “Tweet This” buttons and it would hurt them badly; either they will have to offer more or they would have to come up with some sort of deal with Twitter to give them a bit of a upper hand. We not sure yet as we have heard nothing from Tweetmeme.
Now we just need to implement this into a WordPress plugin and we are sorted.
