On friday we wrote about the Android Market finally being launched in August. HTC have just notified me that the August launch will only give users access to free applications and not the paid applications as yet.
We assume this has to do with payment methods but are unsure at the moment and will update you when we know more.
What this does mean is that the local market is really missing on some of the premium applications that have been developed for the Android system.

My bad, just checked out leaf and the upgrades are available with android market and exchange sync.
Any word on the sense UI though?
Mmm… just wondering if Google wants to curb Piracy of Android apps, why then do they lock the market?
Many people in countries with locked and free market will then have to search the web and unfortunately that will mean a greater chunk of more than 50% of all apps installed through download on to SD card will be pirated. I use a couple of international webapps with android clients only available to the US. Waiting for developers to contact me back on requests to have a download link to pay and use the app. Otherwise I have 2 choices: Pirate the app (I have a link) or dump the webapp that is paid for.
Just spoke to Leaf r.e the Android Market in SA. Still no paid-for apps available. Guess we’ll have to investigate how to pirate apps, as there is no legit way to buy them?

Howdy,
Any further news on this ito release date or whether we in SA can get the Sense UI upgrade on our Magics?
